Annual Rabies Vaccination Waiver
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) strongly supports the National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians’ (NASPHV) recommendation that all dogs, cats, and ferrets should be vaccinated to protect against rabies infection. Rabies is an almost invariably fatal disease for animals and humans; vaccination of animals is a critical step in preventing infection and protecting public health.
However, AVMA recognizes some animals might require a waiver from rabies vaccination because the vaccination poses an unacceptably high risk to the health of the individual animal, or a waiver might be necessary for research purposes. Read the entire article

Joint Health
Good joint health is crucial to your companion animal’s wellbeing. The ability to walk, run and jump represents a large part of your dog’s unique ability to express emotion. Unfortunately, aching and stiff joints are just as much a part of aging for dogs as it is for humans. In fact, there are an estimated 68 million dogs experiencing hip and joint challenges – that’s nearly 60% of the canine population!
At present, there are several hip and joint formulas marketed for companion animals. Unfortunately, most of these products treat the joint as an isolated goal; it is for this reason that they do not work as well as they could.
Our new and improved Agility supplement is a holistic formula, which means that it takes into account the needs of the whole body, including all the parts that work with the joints.
This formula helps maintain healthy joint cartilage and connective tissue, and to aid in the production of healthy synovial fluid, which lubricates the joints.
This supplement features Glucosamine, MSM, sea mussels and hyaluronic acid. Agility Formula is a natural, holistic, multi-action joint support formula containing scientifically-tested ingredients.
Glucosamine helps maintain and promote joint and connective tissue health.
It has been shown to be essential in the healthy development and ongoing maintenance of connective tissue and synovial fluid. Research studies indicate that Glucosamine supports healthy joint flexibility, mobility and lubrication.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a natural source of organic sulfur, an element vital to the maintenance of healthy joints, bones, ligaments and tendons.

Product Review - Roxxter

The kind folks at Dublin Dog Company sent us a Roxxter to dog test. We received the lime in size medium.
First thing I discovered is a pleasant vanilla scent instead of the stinky rubber odor in most toys. I noticed right away that the Roxxter is a very soft rubbery texture and is fairly quiet when being tossed around by KaeJae the Jack Russell and yet, because of the unique shape, was easy for my little KiKu, the Japanese Chin to also enjoy. She was able to pick it up and fling it around the room, but soon figured out the best way to dispense the kibble I place inside was to slap it around on the floor. It made for great entertainment on a rainy night.
This treat dispensing toy was a huge hit with both of my dogs and I anticipate using it as a "food bowl" to make meals more exciting. Treat dispensing toys are a great way to change up your feeding routine and to work your dog's brain as well as give him/her a bit of exercise.
I would note, this is a toy that you will need to supervise if you have a dog that is a heavy chewer. I like this particular treat dispensing toy because it is quiet and very pliable for dogs who like to "nom" their toys and that it can easily be tossed about a room by a dog without the potential of damaging your home because it is so soft and bouncy. Because it rights itself when it lands, your dog is required to move it around a lot to get the treats out.
I think the price is quite fair and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new way feed your dog his kibble or a nice toy to dispense treats for fun activity.
On researching Dublin Dog, I was happy to see that their products are made right here in the U.S.A.! The Roxxter is a recyclable product, so it doesn't have to end up in a landfill should it get damaged. They also have leashes made from recycled bottles! Go Green and Go U.S.A.!

Dogs Fall Ill As Owners, Vets and Lawmakers Blame Treats from China
Dogs Fall Ill As Owners, Vets and Lawmakers Blame Treats from China
by James Andrews | Mar 09, 2012
When Maria Higginbotham couldn't find the usual dog treats she buys at her local Target store back in early January, she decided to instead buy some brand-name chicken jerky dog treats for Bandit, her 3-year-old rat terrier.
Four days later, Bandit collapsed on the floor.
He was soon experiencing bloody diarrhea, and by the time Higginbotham and her mother got him to his veterinarian, his organs were shutting down. His liver showed that he had eaten something toxic. Certain that Bandit's inexplicable illness had already become too severe, the veterinarian suggested putting him down, and Higginbotham's mother and son agreed.
But she refused, and after nearly $4,000 in medical bills and three weeks of intensive nursing that included in-home I.V. care, Bandit recovered. Staff from the vet's office inspected Higginbotham's Western Washington home and yard, finding nothing that might have conceivably poisoned him. Though the vet could not link the chicken jerky to the illness, Higginbotham said he thought it was likely the cause.

The issue: Most canine behavioral problems either involve normal behaviors that people don't like or understand or anxiety-related concerns that comprise true behavioral diagnoses. The foundation for treating any canine behavioral concern relies on:
Understanding "normal"
Identifying and mitigating risk
Communicating well with the dog
Reading the dog's signals
Meeting the dog's needs.
